Dear Mr. Kenilworth,
I had the opportunity to meet you at the seminar held by our college during my Final year at the college in June 2007. Today I came across an advertisement in the Times job section where it was advertised, that there is a vacancy for the post of sub-editor in your magazine section. Seeing your name in the advertisement I decided to forward my Resume so that I can avail the opportunity to work with a person of your stature and gain experience from you which I am sure will help me to make my future career and develop those abilities in me to put me in a commanding position like you.
I have completed my Degree in Journalism from the most renowned college XXX and had always ranked within the first five top rankers in the class. I also have a knack for reading various type of books, magazines and articles which has helped me to learn about the various methods and techniques that has to be applied to make the written matter appealing to the readers so that they develop an interest for the magazine which will increase the sale of the magazine and make it a profitable venture.
During my college days I had written several short stories and articles for the college magazine and for some esteemed newspapers. I am sending the cutting of the same along with my letter. I had also won several prizes in various types of writing contests held within the college and outside the college which has put me in a position to understand the taste of the readers and the matter that will draw their attention towards making the magazine their daily habit.
After completing college I had worked as a freelance reporter which has enhanced my knowledge about various aspects and the strategies in life which draws the interest of the readers and induces them to read the matter. During this period I had ample opportunity to come in contact with different type of people and know about their area of interest and their choice of subject which will surely help me in my job as being the sub-editor I shall be able to choose the required material for the magazine and make it a success.
I also have a very compatible nature which will help me to work very cordially with my seniors and also with my juniors thus creating a comfortable and cordial working condition. I am looking to pursue a career in journalism and travel writing is one area in which I am keen to garner experience. It is ideal considering that I am an avid traveler myself and have taken a keen interest in travel literature in my own reading, which will help me to be versatile.
Thank you for consideration.
Yours faithfully,
John Michael Haddock
